Since Kai had been sleeping through the night since he was 8 weeks old, we decided it was finally time to make the transition to his crib. That, and the fact that I had discovered he was well over the weight limit for his bassinet. Whoops!!
We were totally dreading it…the thought of not being able to just lean over the bed to check on him throughout the night was so nerve wracking, but we bit the bullet on February 7th, and it was a success! Daddy admitted that he woke up several times throughout the night to go in his nursery to check on him, but Kai had no issues with the crib whatsoever!
Unfortunately for us though, Kai has reverted back to waking up in the middle of the night to eat ever since we made the change. We’re hoping that it was just a coincidence…that maybe he’s going through a temporary growth spurt and will be back to sleeping 8-10 hours like before. So for now, we’re referring to him as "Kai, The Indian Giver!"
Then last Sunday, I made what I call an “executive Mommy decision” and decided to start Kai on cereal. His doctor said to try to wait until 4 months, unless the milk just wasn’t cutting it…well, considering the fact that he was eating between 48-54oz a day of expressed breast milk and formula, not to mention whatever he was getting from actually breastfeeding…I’d say not cutting it was an understatement! He had all the signs of readiness, so we tried it, and he really seemed to dig it! He wasn’t quite sure how to handle the spoon at first, but got the hang of it pretty quickly!
Kai discovered his hands a few weeks ago, and quickly started putting them to use... now he's grabbing everything in reach and putting them in his mouth- toys, bibs, blankets-you name it. He's even gotten such good control of them now that he attempts to put his binkie back in his mouth after it has fallen out, and pretty much holds his own bottle! We really can't believe how fast he's growing...we were looking at old videos of him, and it doesn't even look like the same baby!
Time for pictures!
Kai started with his new babysitter 2 weeks ago- our friends Jeanie and Tom. Their son Jake is exactly a month older than Kai, so I have a feeling they're going to be great friends!

First night in the crib:

He's trying so hard to roll!

Working hard at getting the toy in his mouth:

We can't go anywhere without people commenting on those cheeks! Actually, we can't go anywhere without people talking to us about him PERIOD! We didn't think we'd ever get out of BJ's last night- people stopped us down almost every aisle LOL

He pretty much only cries when he's hungry, but boy does he mean business when it's time to eat!

Our handsome boy in red on Valentine's Day:

Having fun in his Pack 'N Play:

Enjoying his Care Bear from Aunt Pat:

First time eating cereal!

I love taking pictures of his little feet...cuz before I know it, they'll be big and smelly like Daddy's!

All smiles after waking up from a nap:

He's getting better and better with Tummy Time!

Kai has his 3 month appointment tomorrow, so I'll try to come back to update about that...we have bets going on how much he weighs LOL
I'll also try to post a few videos! Bye for now!
I can't believe how big he's gotten, the one with the teddy bear is to cute. I got the Nikon D300, it's huge and going to take a long time to figure out, but way better than my little D40x.
